Jeremy Gilley Peace One Day Action

“We may have different religions, different languages, different coloured skin, but we all belong to one human race.” – Kofi Annan

World peace is an aspiration for countless people around the world, yet sadly it is only a reality for some of us! Surely it’s a human right for everyone?

While yes many of us aren’t in a position to stop bombing and violence in far corners of the global, BUT, that isn’t cause for us to sit back and let bad things happen. We all have the responsibility and all have the opportunity to evoke peace, unity, compassion and empathy in our own lives and in the world around us.

So we must act and despite popular belief, the vast majority of abuse and violence isn’t a result of war or terrorism, but is happening around the world in our homes, the workplace, in our schools and in our local communities!

Jeremy Gilley, founder of Peace One Day and the man and organisation behind establishing the UN Resolution back in 2001 for the annual day of ceasefire and non-violence has a very personal story that sparked his burning passion for this incredibly critical global cause and a wealth of experience over the last 20 years in evoking peace in some of the most war-torn parts of the world. In this interview Jeremy also shares his passion for the UN Global Goals and what he sees the solution to achieving them by 2030.

We urge you to listen below to his personal journey over the last 20 years of Peace Day on 21st September, to hear how you can play a part, not just on that day, but every other day and his aspirations for Peace Day over the years to come!
